Unfortunately we had cloud cover while it was happening. Here’s an image about 20 minutes after it finished.

Tanja made this cake today for Izabel’s birthday and we’re going to bring it to a friend’s party. Enjoy.

I have about 2/3s of the photos up in a slideshow.
http://www.poirierphotos.com/austria
Here are some notes… primarily for myself in the future.
- Even though customs might have been a bit more difficult, It would have been really nice to be able to organize and clean up my photos while there. Also, it would have made me step back and realize what I missed and who I missed taking pictures of.
- I wish I would have taken more pictures. It was a bit embarrassing to take out the camera and clickity clicking all over the place, but as beautiful as the scenery was, it would have been much, much better to have more pictures of people
- The trip to Austria wasn’t a “go all over Europe” type of trip, so it worked out perfectly. Alois was nice enough to let Tanja and I take his car a few days and that made us want to wander off more than not having access to a car at all. Next trip.
- We could understand people reasonably well. Jerzens was so secluded from the rest of Austria that people didn’t really have a need to learn English. Several people we met spoke good english, but many of the shops and restaurants workers knew none
- Get Abigail a seat next time
- self explanatory. The girls were perfect on the flights, thankfully, but it would have been nice to have a seat for her to stretch out.
- We had so many issues with the American airports/airlines, that next time we’re flying non-stop on Lufthansa.
I am sure there are more, but these are good to remember.
Enjoy.

Here’s a small sampling of some of the photos we got while on our trip. I expect some good slideshows will be up in about a week. 1200 pictures to sort through.
